Mischief Finally Managed
I will never forget the first time I ever watched a Harry Potter film. I was 13 years old, finishing up middle school and about to begin high school for the very first time. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was the introduction to one of the most imaginative, curious and magical film legacies my generation will ever see, and I can honestly say that I definitely related to young Harry while he was first starting at Hogwarts!
Over the last 10 years, we have all grown to love some wonderful wizarding characters such as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Snape, Dumbledore, Hagrid, Luna, even Malfoy. Every year a new film was introduced, I remember audiences (as well as myself) becoming more and more enthralled and even a trend of dressing up in Harry Potter attire was born! Though the films turned exceptionally dark after the 4th installment, all of the Harry Potter films never lost that magical spark which in turn drew fans in from all over the world. To this day, every time I watch one of the 8 films, I learn something new about the entire storyline.
Last night at midnight, the final conclusion to this long, perilous yet exciting journey was debuted. The hefty crowds awaiting the different movie showings resembled that of an unopened amusement park... it was unbelievable. Of course, I couldn't blame them... the legacy as we know it was coming to a close! As packs of 'muggles' swarmed into the theaters, myself included as a spectator/die-hard fan, I desperately attempted to embrace this final moment of a 10 year phenomenon. Our childhood was sitting in theaters all over the globe!
Needless to say, the final installment of Harry Potter was triumphant and properly sealed up 10 years of magical wonder and glory. Though many have stated that the books are indeed better, books will almost always be better for many reasons; however, the imagination, creativeness and devotion behind every single HP film ever made helped bring J.K. Rowling's extraordinary fantasy to life... and more!
What do we as fans have to remember such a spectacular vision by? The books, the movies, memorabilia,? Always. Though luckily for us, there is one final gift that Warner Brothers and Miss Rowling left behind... The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando! If you have not yet seen this amazing place and are indeed an HP fan, please make it a point to visit!!! The experience is something beyond words. Upon entering, you ARE a part of the magic, literally. It will be something that will always be a celebrated monument of the Harry Potter age, as well as a reminder to all those whose adolescence were a part of the playful growth and success of this enchanting heirloom.
I am sad to see all of the spells, charms, potions classes, battles, laughs, relationships and friendships within Hogwarts come to an end; yet I am delighted and take comfort in knowing that one woman's precise vision was able to take individuals of all ages back to a sense of childish nonsense, a sense of innocence and admiration, a sense of decoration and imagination. Thank you for everything, Miss Rowling. We solomnly swear that we are up to no good. ;)
