Mommy Dearest
i wanted to take this moment to write a blog about my wonderful mother. hope you're reading Ma =)
my mom is my inspiration, my solid stake that holds up my circus tent, my happy place and most importantly, the main reason for my crazy antics. when i was younger, i remember eating breakfast in the morning and my mother would announce herself while entering the room by stating, "Damn, I look good today!" this confidence definitely poured over into my cup and has adhered to my daily life ever since.
since birth, mom was (and remains) a devoted Christian. growing up, she was always involved in Bible studies, Women's Ministries, volunteering at church programs, etc. i always adored that about her. mom had something to keep her grounded and positive when money was tight or my brothers and i were reeking havoc throughout the house. though she may seem like the typical "bible-thumper," my mother is absolutely fabulous, trendy, sassy, sophisticated, intelligent, witty and humourous... but never over-look the power of one of her infamous prayers!
over the last 2 years, i've seen my mom grow stronger and develop a new, firm sense of pride and dignity that she lost after my parents split up. i love both of my parents more than all of the clouds in the sky, and their split helped me to understand that sometimes, things just don't work out; HOWEVER, it doesn't mean that things can't get better!! she met a new, terrific ol' chap (whom is now my Step-Papa) and she is happier than ever!
i could go on for days telling you all about the one who birthed me, raised me, taught me right from wrong, punished me, pushed me, encouraged me, listened to me, strengthened me and prepared me for life... but i believe a short, sweet sentiment can just as effectively get the point across. Ma, I love ya. don't ever change. stay crazy and wild. stay spiritual and positive. stay loud and obnoxious while on your cell and shopping at the grocery store. i hope to grow up to be a mother just like you and don't worry, my kiddies can call you "Auntie" if you don't wanna age to quickly ;)

WOW! Thanks Jennifer for such a sweet and wonderful tribute of LOVE! You have become quite the woman and I am very proud of YOU! I love knowing I am the solid stake to hold up your circus tent! That cracks me up and makes me very happy at the same time! You can do anything you want if you are willing to put the action behind the desire! I know you will become all that God has created you to be! I will enjoy the kiddies calling me Grandmama, but I am not wearing those big white underwear!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOU so very much Jennifer...sister Kate!
Love,
Mama
And, I must say, it's a learned behavior...my Dad used to say, "Damn, I'm good looking".
